Interesting piece. While I, apparently, am in the minority of people who aren't blown away I did listen a few times to try to capture what you were trying to accomplish. What I was drawn to most was the low note playful melody that kicked in at 1:48. I found myself grooving in my chair and isolating it in my mind. The motif came back in around 2:25 and hard at 2:35 but faded away. The dance was over. It was as if my partner and I were lost in the moment together but then reality filled the void, as it always does, as we stared at each other catching our breath.

Phonometrologist responds:

One of the things that distinguishes art from propaganda is that the latter is trying to accomplish something. And I don't mean attempting to accomplish certain techniques, but rather in how someone should interpret or feel towards it. Whereas in art, it often is about playing, exploring, and discovering what is already there in and around us. It merely reveals something. You understand this as I've read the word tinkering amongst you and the Heartgrinder.
So I couldn't recall any purpose or intention. I can only say what music I was listening to while creating this and what was going on around me in society at the time of its creation. I often think of current events, and stories of those that struggle among us. I was initially having fun discovering rhythms between melody and harmony.
I like your analogy. If I were to interchangeable use the words dance and life, I'd like to describe it as when the music fades, we are separated from that moment in a forlorn pursuit.

I felt the transitions were dragged out a bit long but I loved the "meat-and-potatoes" sections: at :08 you get right into it and we're brought into this ethereal world, but at 1:16 it becomes more industrial, the conclusion section brings it all home which I enjoy most. Well done.

Marvelous. I'd love to get my hands on this one. I love the little sounds that pop up here and there. The bass swell at the end, the pops and snaps, the constant undertones. This is just a great track.

Really well done.

An enjoyable piece. I would consider turning down the kicks in the mix - and that's me of all people saying that. You built up a nice mood and atmospherics but then you just get beat in the head with your percussion. I know a thing or two about trying to balance percussion.

I'm insulted I wasn't invited.

This is a lovely slow rhythmic track that speaks to me. Well done.

I FUCKING TOLD YOU.

ZLEAP responds:

You're not my real dad.

The animals gathered around to protect the lesbian in training. They shouted encouragements at her while she struggled with her pushups and gardening. She lamented her healthy food, for she wanted to put the coke back in coke and consume massive amounts of sugar like the rest of the kids. The beasts wouldn't let her, for they knew the knife would come for them too. They wail in anguish at those already fallen and do their due diligence. Eat your fucking vegetables.

This had a strange tempo and some clear mastering issues, but a fun concept. Take this one back into the studio, polish it, and I think you'll have a product worth keeping! :)

GameDevWannabe responds:

thank you for the critic.

I wouldn't put this among the HG classics, but it's always nice to see you're back doing things. This has a bit of an anticipatory feel, which is nice.

ZLEAP responds:

Thanks.

Yeah, I've fallen into a decent creative groove lately. It's nice like a warm blanket. Or like heroin.

Anyway... I appreciate it, buddy.

I wasn't sure how I fit in here, originally. Then I listen to the song and I actually had a 'ah, there it is' moment.

Having worked with Lich and HG (extensively) but not Phonometrologist (yet), this was fun for me to listen to and see the similarities. I loved every moment of this.

Phonometrologist responds:

I'm glad you enjoyed what you inspired. Would love to collaborate sometime, but I just don't what my role would be in the process. Something we'll have to think about in the future as I don't have much experience in working with others via online.

Plan Slowly, Execute Quickly. Don't Think, Just Dance.
