I reviewed an earlier piece and wanted to see what is new. This is worlds better than what I listened to prior. This lacks a punchiness in your sound but the overall feel is well executed. I enjoyed listening to this and encourage you to keep it up.

zybor responds:

Thank you for your review! :)

This sounds muffled. This has the design of listening to it through a wall/barrier. The abrupt percussion choices here are interesting too as they contrast with the design of the 'behind the wall' aesthetic.

If you want to be melancholic, this is in the right direction.

zybor responds:

:P well, I was looking for that 'Wall of Sound' thingy. I wasn't sure what I was looking for in this track, but then again I never sure about the end production of my work. I just do it whatever I feel like. I also wanna take a break from all the industrial stuff, at least until I finish this album.

Thank you for your words and dropping by :)

This piece is smile-inducing. I so thoroughly enjoy works that are playful, thoughtful, and just a wee bit nostalgic all at once.

Part of me is flying through the cosmos in an anime scene, but part of me is sitting under a street lamp in a montage sequence. Part of me is dancing with a partner as if no one else in the world exists, and part of me is training in a video game.

This piece was worth several listens and deserving of the frontpage nod. Well done. Keep it up, love.

Quarl responds:

Lol, glad to hear I got the feelings across. I'm always trying to pin a romantic sound, thank you so much AW <3

"and I didn't need to add lots of perc to create the soundscape for this track. This proves mixing and mastering can really bring out a lot in the work."

I feel personally attacked lol. Some of us love spending a lot of time in the production side AND being percussion heavy :p .

Nice track though, it was an enjoyable listen.

Edit: I wasn't being serious about being attacked.

zybor responds:

Didn't mean to offend ppl, beside we all do our own things right? It's just a self-critical moment because I tend to perc-cramp in previous tracks until it overwhelm the mixing. I however think you are very good at putting heavy drums into the work and I'm amazed at your mixing quality.

Thank you for your kind words :)

I have seen your name quite a bit around lately. I know you but it was before the name change and it will eternally bother me. I will not be bothered in the sense of "Ha! I knew (s)he/they then." I will not be bothered in the sense of "Hey, I know some NG trivia." A cursory glance and one can see I became irritated at the Industrial portal and found a much quieter section in experimental.

However, you're already in my fav' list. You are someone. I can point to a specific Phono. piece and say "Yep, Phono, Grinder, Lich, Me, and...you." I am nearly certain I know this person but due to combat trauma not in this current form.

I see your name around, even as insignificant and intalented people like I observe.

zybor responds:

Hey thanks for your awesome words :)

Darkness approaches
As Summer yields to Winter
My fate sealed in blood

No tears left to shed
Cold wind bites my skin alone
I play for the moon

I am become Death
Night Creatures' vengeance is swift
I hear their skitters

The melody fades
Only the Reaper wins here
Gone in the cold wind

Phonometrologist responds:

A poem of the wise about the inevitability of all flesh. Wisdom within the one that realizes this and lives with this present in mind.

Interesting piece. While I, apparently, am in the minority of people who aren't blown away I did listen a few times to try to capture what you were trying to accomplish. What I was drawn to most was the low note playful melody that kicked in at 1:48. I found myself grooving in my chair and isolating it in my mind. The motif came back in around 2:25 and hard at 2:35 but faded away. The dance was over. It was as if my partner and I were lost in the moment together but then reality filled the void, as it always does, as we stared at each other catching our breath.

Phonometrologist responds:

One of the things that distinguishes art from propaganda is that the latter is trying to accomplish something. And I don't mean attempting to accomplish certain techniques, but rather in how someone should interpret or feel towards it. Whereas in art, it often is about playing, exploring, and discovering what is already there in and around us. It merely reveals something. You understand this as I've read the word tinkering amongst you and the Heartgrinder.
So I couldn't recall any purpose or intention. I can only say what music I was listening to while creating this and what was going on around me in society at the time of its creation. I often think of current events, and stories of those that struggle among us. I was initially having fun discovering rhythms between melody and harmony.
I like your analogy. If I were to interchangeable use the words dance and life, I'd like to describe it as when the music fades, we are separated from that moment in a forlorn pursuit.

I FUCKING TOLD YOU.

ZLEAP responds:

You're not my real dad.

This had a strange tempo and some clear mastering issues, but a fun concept. Take this one back into the studio, polish it, and I think you'll have a product worth keeping! :)

GameDevWannabe responds:

thank you for the critic.

I wouldn't put this among the HG classics, but it's always nice to see you're back doing things. This has a bit of an anticipatory feel, which is nice.

ZLEAP responds:

Thanks.

Yeah, I've fallen into a decent creative groove lately. It's nice like a warm blanket. Or like heroin.

Anyway... I appreciate it, buddy.

Plan Slowly, Execute Quickly. Don't Think, Just Dance.
